For Love of Country

America

My country, 'tis of thee,

Sweet land of liberty,

Of thee I sing;

Land where my fathers died,

Land of the pilgrims' pride,

From every mountainside

Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,

Land of the noble free,

Thy name I love;

I love thy rocks and rills,

Thy woods and templed hills;

My heart with rapture thrills,

Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,

And ring from all the trees

Sweet freedom's song;

Let mortal tongues awake;

Let all that breathe partake;

Let rocks their silence break,

The sound prolong.

  1. I can't believe you didn't share this with us sisters earlier! I am so proud of you for doing this! It is so you! I wish I had a zest for something, like you do for this! You definitely have a follower for this site. I want to keep on sipping with you! I loved watching Love American Style! I remember watching it and thinking oh, oh I probably shouldn't be watching this. It is so tame now that I see it. You just have to laugh at how naive we were. Those were the days! Linda is going to flip when she sees this site. You know how she loves all this stuff. I have to let April know. She is going to get a kick out of the 4th of july picture of us Aunties, Uncles and Grandparents! Keep up the blog! It makes me want to delve more into the wonderful past! I Love you my precious sister, sarsaparilla!

  2. Hi Mary - I'm glad I finally told my family. You're too sweet!

    Okay, you twisted my arm - I guess I won't give up yet!

    Love you,

  4. Hello SouthwestSky,
    How nice of you to stop by!

    I love that For Love of Country illustration too. Unfortunately I sold it last year. I posted about the Ten Things I Wish I Hadn't Sold on eBay - and this illustration was one of them...

    I took a peek at your jewelry blog. Beautiful stuff. I especially love vintage jewelry.
    I saw that you recently went to an Eric Clapton concert. I'm so envious - he's a fave of mine too.
